My first outing at Thruxton race track trying to learn the circuit in a 997 Turbo. The instructor was good, very relaxed and clear instructions. No flamers please not interested, posted this on here so anyone wanting to see thruxton can see and hear instructions on how to handle the track before they go if they have never been.

PS. I know I sound like a loud mumbling farmer in this video no idea why lol

  • such a drag, i can see you just wanted to do what you wanted to do, sod the passenger driver assist, ilew take my 1.2 clio for fun .

  • @scarfy1988 yeh defo give it a go, the track is good fun, plenty of room. It was my first time out on the track, so I didn't mind the tuition, but yes would be nice to just go with it. I've been meaning to go back there for a bit but have just been way too busy, hoping to take the 996 for a spin there soon.

  • Totally. The cones were a bit off putting to start with, as I was actually concentrating on not hitting them lol, but soon relaxed. I think it's to make sure that new people give the pitlane a wide birth and exiting vehicles. The place cones on the outside wern't too bad, they helped mark out brake points etc and apex's which was quite good. It was a good track though, the last sweeping bend on the back of the track is awesome for building up speed after a bit of practice :)

  • @steveoz32 yeah i agree with you on that one fella i did the track day today and yeah at first they were off putting but yeah after a while I learnt to use them to full advantage like you say where to brake, speed up, etc, but i think the track had some great turns but the last sweeping bend was amazing and yeah after practice that was amazing corner!!

  • @eitherwaybarneyrubbl Good stuff, thruxton is a great track once you've done a few laps :) The last sweeping corner is great!

  • its good to have an instructor for your first few laps of a new track. Do they always use cones all the way round the track, i hate that :( did they remove them atall? id like to visit this track one day but not with the amount of cones.
