Android 2.2 on the T-Mobile G1

It wasn't long ago that Cyanogen and his team got Android 2.1 working on the G1 (video) -- a feat that many said couldn't be done.

Now they've gone and proven everyone wrong again: Froyo (Android 2.2) can run on the G1 -- and run well.

Of course, getting this up and running isn't for the faint of heart, and it's not yet "fully cooked" -- it's still a release candidate (more stable than alpha and beta ROMs, but still with some rough-edges). Come take a look at the first Android phone running the latest Android OS!

How do you get to the recovery screen? According to everything I've read online, you push HOME and POWER at the same time but when I do that, I get the exclamation point and phone symbol and then nothing else happens. Am I supposed to do something when that comes up?

Is there an easier way to upgrade? I don't think the G1 can handle Froyo fully and I can safely bet not evything is working to it's best. I think G1 should be okay with Eclair best, Froyo is too much for the G1, to think this was the first smartphone to have Android. Wow 2007 seems like a long time ago, time flies so fast. Too bad the android hasn't changed that much I mean it's nice and all but the apps looks dead, it needs a little animation, live apps like I always said and true multi taskin

Cyanogen ROM has one BIG problem... it eats the battery like candy... if you install this then you battery will be shit..
