nope...it's hogwash for reasons i stated...pure and simple logic.why not put the text into a side of a mountain for the whole world to see?it's always the same crap with every religion "an angel appeared before me and told me these things so now im a profit"....and yes im aware of how to spell prophet i spell it that way for effect.

I was agnostic before joining the Church, but if you actually take the test that Moroni lets us in the Book of Mormon, you can come to know through the power of the Holy Ghost! I have.
What other book of scripture begs you to come to know of it's truthfullness, and allows you a way to do just that? You'd be hard-pressed to find that anywhere but in the Book of Mormon!

It may interest you that the plates were most likely not complete gold, but had rather "the apprearance of gold", and in actuality weighed about 60 lbs.
Also, it is not the plates that count, it is the record that we have as a result of the translation of them! Don't get so caught up on such a little thing to not actually see the product of the Restoration of the Gospel we have in the Book of Mormon!

scholarship has only added, to my faith, it has never challenged it. The more I study from things like "The divine council in caananite and Early Hebrew literature.' which was a harvard thesis the more Joseph Shines. The more I study out of the journal of near eastern studies, and old testament studies the more he shines. I have studied these matters extensively. Have you? Many of Joseph Smiths ideas are now being validated by scholarship outside of the lds community. For me he is vindicated.

You refused to address the issues in the video, and resulting to 'its just bs.' its an irony of the highest order that you accuse others of not thinking critically, when that is the exact thing that you are doing. And yes I am a true believer. Neither I or you will change each others opinions. Neither will any amount of literary evidence. Chaim Raban of Hebrew University, Who was Jewish said it was a better example of Hebraisms then KJ Bible. It least he was intellectually honest.

I don't appreciate you insulting my intelligence. It is impossible for any person to be completely open minded. To open your mind to one world view is to close it to an opposing one. People who speak of 'being open minded.' don't realize that such a scenario is impossible. Those who decry people for being closed minded, are closed minded yourself.
I don't base off my faith off evidence, but I do read and study continually, the claim that I 'don't think for myself' is incredibly insulting.

wow a true believer...i don't stand a chance at getting you to think for yourself so i give up...when you believe in something you stop analyzing and you become brain dead....here's my view in 30 seconde or less...God doesn't care about religion because he knows religion is created by man and is subject to lies,cheats,and thieves.religion is pure crap and i don't need it or a church to have God in my life,and neither do you.

God did put it in writing, hence the book of Mormon. He expects his children to exercise faith in him, and he will not rob man of his agency. To do so would destroy the entire plan of salvation. Also the book of Mormon was not written on Gold. It was stated that it 'had the appearance of gold.' The greatest proof is the spirit of God. The lord told Joseph that if the world could see the things that Joseph had seen still they would not believe. Miracles and divine manifestations do not convert.

did you take the time to read the comment?i said nothing about anybodies modern perspective....the point was if God wanted us all to be mormon why doesn't he just put it in writing for the whole world to see?why hide the tablets and why make them out of gold when we all know God doesn't value gold the way man does....God would be smart enough to make these tablets out of granite or some other long lasting and less valuable rock.Making them out of gold would just make them a target for thieves.
Please don't try and compare Mormonism to the Jewish scriptures. There is no comparison.

@Kremlin59
There are no comparisons to one who blinds oneself to them, there is no question in that, for sure. You wish to turn a blind eye, be my guest. I shall see what there is, thank you.
