"if abiogenesis were really like shaking computer components together to get a comp"
Viruses have been shown to self-assemble from jiggling prebiotic components. This was actually how a group of amateurs were able to digitally model the simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) by placing digital molecules in their most stable position relative to each other using their inherent electrical affinities and thermodynamic characteristics. (Had no knowledge of SIV prior to this)

@Tekrob If things were really that simple, and abiogenesis were really like shaking computer components together to get a computer, then clearly there would be no scientists that took abiogenesis seriously. But most biologists do. Why is that?

I think that students should challenge and question teachers concerning accepted scientific theories, but only with the following provision: The student must do so with an intent to learn, and with an open-minded attitude, not with merely an intent to provoke the teacher. If your goal is merely to provoke, then to ask questions is worthless.

@TheBanile Regarding the quote, “There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one." It was nonetheless Charles Darwin that changed this from the 2nd to 6th editions. It was not someone else who took the liberties to change it. And to say he was giving into religious pressure is pure assumption and speculative musing to support anti-creation propaganda.

Note: some of the most "simple" living things have much more complexity than any man made creation. Most manmade creations are mimicked from what has already been designed and created by an infinitely wise and intelligent creator (Study of Biomimetics). People try to explain away the Creator so they have nobody to answer to or because they don't want to admit that there is someone much more intelligent than themselves. Quite illogical and self centered actually.

OK everyone. I understand that most evolutionists do not want to give in to believing in a creator. So I have an experiment for everyone who thinks that everything in our known world appeared by accident.
1. Gather enough components to build your own computer.
2. Place them all in a box together
3. Shake the box until you have a fully working computer
4. Notice the results. (you might get very tired shaking the box for an infinite period of time)
5. Think really hard and logically.

why is it seem that it is looked down upon for a teacher to learn from their students?

@Tekrob Your latter quote is also terribly incorrect: here is the quote from the first edition I have; "There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms so beautiful and most wondrous have been, or are being, evolved."
Funny how there is no mention of a creator in there.
I think what most Creationists or IDers fail to realise is that athiests do not have a fanatical devotion to the theory of evolution. If the right evidence was produced in sufficient volume to creat a paradigm shift in thinking WRT evolutionary theory the scientific community would change its mind in a second, and so would I. You have no I dea how many legitimate scientists would love to legitImately bebunk Evolution or any other scientific theory. Sciences allegence is to truth, not to theories

Something I just realize. There is no dispute among scientists about evolutoin. However, there is dispute among creationists. There are young-earth creattionists, old-earth creationists, islamic creationists, even extra-terrestrial creationists (scientologists), and many more. I believe all creationsts should settle their dispute before bringing it to challenge science.
