Hi, i uploaded 2 videos showing how my Tabla were fitted with internal mic's & then i thought i would demonstarte them being played. I have not played them in a while and haven't had much opportunity to do so recently. I play them just flat through the mic's first and then using a reverb unit , which is pretty old and i'm sure there are much more exciting ones around now. I go through an old guitar amp which would be better if it was one with 2 jack inputs instead of 1 like this one. Please bear in mind i am not at full volume here(in my apartment) and it would be better going through a mixing desk etc. I just sat down casually and started to play , no pre-plans as to what and just to let you see how they sound. I am picking the effects at random as we go along as didn't rehearse any but i know iv'e had some pretty weird ones at times. I shall post it all in sections which might be too many videos but i can always take them off, just wanted to allow the flow. Its not a performance just me doing bits and pieces. I will post 5 in all of this session. May 2010 --------- ps The main advantage from this internal mic set up is that you can here the black spot much more clearly if playing with other electrified instruments where as usually with conventional mic's you just here the Na cutting through and the strokes on the black spot get lost .

  • hi there, what mics are you using ??

  • Hi, I am personally using AKG C418 B- Lock mic's which are clip on mic's. There were not much choice when i bought these which were over 120 Euros each. I'm not sure if Akg still have this range ? Audio Technica have a range under the name Lavalier mic's. There is another by Speedlink which is very cheap ? The Lavaliers have XLR outputs which may be important but you should do an engine/net search for clip on mic's. Its importantyou configure the output to an Amp/effects & volume control !

  • nice work, in anyway i can t listen the difference betwen natural acustic and amplify tabla sound and how mic work...would be interesting listen it in a strong live situation, like disco music for example, for a right mic choose and feedbacks
