Based on Wii Whiteboard technology found on http://www.wiimoteproject.com/ and http://johnnylee.net/projects/

Here's how to build your own!
http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Cintiq-Tablet-using-Wii-Remote/

The software used to capture the pen movement is called 'smoothboard' - its got lots of features and its very easy to set up. See the instructable for more info.

UPDATE:

I've built a new model since this one, based on a Wacom Intuos and an old laptop. Check out the new build here:

  • Is it pressure sensitive?

  • @3dcga no it's not pressure sensitive, which is why I built an entirely new one recently, based on a Wacom tablet. Youtube won't let me post a link in here for some reason but I've updated the video info with a link to the new one.

  • Why and how can i do this compeltely do i have to do somethign special with my Wii Remote then its pointing at my screen??? And does it wroks 100 % and is not fake?

  • follow the link to the page on instructables, it'll show you how to build your own

  • @roryok I've tried it out, but I can't really get it to work :(

  • @Luka1180 it can be tricky enough to get right. what part isnt working?

  • @roryok Hm, it's like nothing's working at all... Can I do this to a laptop screen? If not, that may be the reason it's not working for me lol...

  • any LCD monitor will work, I took the stand off to attach the pipe holding the wiimote (the monitor is actually upside down)

the best thing to do is view the instructable i created for it, the link is on the top right.

  • Thanks for the quick reply!

That is awesome, just any LCD monitor will work? I am very interested in making something like this....

Thanks for the info on how to do it as well!

so the monitor just hooks up to your computer like like normal...ect, you probably just took the stand off so you could lay it flat like that?

  • I've looked for 'cheap' projectors before, (even tried to build one!) but it's not easy to find them.

However, for this project, you only need an old flatscreen monitor!
