how do you use the amp sim in real time? I have to record my track clean and then add the amp sim as an effect
-

Why you use a thumbpick?

@jacktheguitarman that seems odd. I just create a new track, choosing "guitar", choose the preset, set the track monitor on (and feedback protection off, generally), and hit record. I've never noticed a problem setting it up to play in real time.

@ChristiaanBerghuis I've actually gone back to flatpicks. I used a thumbpick for a while after seeing videos of the amazing Scotty Anderson (I highly recommend checking him out)

I hear the strings more than anything else.

@87sherwood There is a lot of string noise, true. It's hard to get enough volume to overpower the string noise but not so much that it's impossible to hear me talk
... yet another reason I shouldn't talk in my videos ;-)

Cool! Which thumb pick is this? did you file the pick?

@0Orion I actually don't know the brand of the thumbpick. It is indeed filed down (well, cut and sanded) - a la Scotty Anderson
