Umbrella Cockatoo, NANA, SCREAMING!

SO YOU WANT A COCKATOO??? LISTEN CAREFULLY...
THIS IS WHAT AN UPSET COCKATOO SOUNDS LIKE...
(and we don't know WHAT she was so upset about!)

DESCRIPTION: We adopted Nana (aka Fred) in 2005 after she was given up by her previous owners. She is a sweet and cuddly, albeit very spunky, young Umbrella Cockatoo who is currently struggling with reproductive hormonal urges that are terribly frustrating to her (and us). They include nest building behavior (e.g. compulsive paper shredding) and the kind of vocalization your hear in this video. She is a VERY upset bird in this video and it took a while to calm her down (SEE "NANA CUDDLING" VIDEO).

A cockatoo screaming at the top of its lungs will stop ANY conversation and drown out everything else -- the news was running on the TV in the background. With 4 Parrots, we record everything we want to watch onto a DVR...

my cockatoo does it when she's tired and ready for bed. it's like she's saying 'mom come on i'm tired and ready for bed so put me in my cage or i'm just going to keep yelling!' once she's in her cage she shuts up and we all can sleep lol!

My cockatoo does that when she wants attention. The minute we take her she seems like her happy self again. If it was pissed it would probably be puffed up and be hissing like crazy.
