@yomero1978 Yes.
1. Purchase sand that is approriate for aquarium and wont hurt the bristles.
2. Dump sand into bucket. Rinse multiple times to get out the stuff that floats. Do this one more time even after you don't see anything flaoting.
3. Add the sand, and if you want mix in some of the old gravel to help colonize the sand.
This is how I do it in my community tank. I have 12 cories. Bacteria only grows on the surfaces of objects, so include as much of the old decorations as possible.

About species: Corys will interact with other species but will happier and more active with 6+ of their own species, mix and matching doesnt work quite as well.

100% true...they look way better in even larger groups and their individual personalities are easier to see.

You'll love them however the pandas stay small. FYI, all cories actually prefer to be in groups of 5 or more and in their own species. They all need soft substrate too so their mustaches don't get injured in their search for food. Enjoy!

i bought a school of little (less than 1 inch) paleatus a while ago, and they may beign to breed in a few months. did you make any special preparations like lowering the water level or reducing temperature? what's your pH and temp? i'd like to see mine breed, but they're in a well planted amazon community tank with tetras and a ram, and i don't want to move them or alter anything too drastically. thanks.

Temp usually around 77 a little less after water change. pH 6.5 and no other fish that could feed on the eggs. Save eggs by gently rolling off onto your finger and putting them in the breeders net to hatch. Java moss will provide first food. After that you can feed crushed spirulina wafer and bbs.
