In an interview on FOX's Happening Now, Republican Congressman Mike Rogers (R-MI) told his personal story of battling cancer at age 19 and raised concerns that a government-run health care system would have left him without the care needed to beat his illness.

  • Republicans! Please stop lying.

Mike Rogers is completely shameless. It's the current insurance companies that refuse to consider the out of the ordinary. Mike Rogers would very likely be dead under the current system.

Mike Rogers is shameless in saying, the new health care system coming will provide disincentives. Current insurance companies have great incentive to deny care.

  • @GuitarSpeller The new "anti-health care" bill is completely unconstitutional. Government was never intended for such purposes. The function of government is to protect our inalienable rights (and they can't even do that right) and not be involved in our private lives. Do you think you own your property? Think again. Thanks to government you now own nothing. When are we going to put a stop to the ignorance and tell gov. "no more"?

  • The Canadian health care system is not all that. I moved to the states from Canada. Folks, just do your homework, and do what is best for your country as a whole. Canadians are overtaxed, and you are well on your way to it also. And for the Liberals out there, trust me....when all is said and done, YOU won't even like it.

  • I don't care what any of you say. as long as this guy stops more government takeover, I'm on his side.

the democrats are out of control, the only jobs created have been government jobs. $700 million dollar earmarks for saving wild horses, etc. this shit is out of control. To object to these facts and ignore them is about the same as trason.

Time for the common people to get involved in politics rather than american idol. I suggest watching more C-SPAN people.

  • I agree, I know what it looks like to live in a country where the government runs healthcare, I lived in one for a long time, and believe me, having the gov't decide who lives and who dies is an absolute disaster because its still the rich who get served first, even under socialized medicine, which is supposedly the opposite of what they want to happen.

  • markhurt1956 You are completely wrong! Congress can indeed legislate regarding technology and medicine. They have done so from the beginning and always will. It's their job. The congress has the authority to make law as well as repeal law. The government also funds all kinds of research. Too many programs to mention here with only 500 characters. Do your homework before you misinform the public..!! Wake up people this is exactly what the GOP wants you to believe. They have no ideas of their own!

  • Here we go again...!! I'm sure if it's on FOX then it has to be the GOSPEL..!! More of the same old republican DOGMA, more commonly known as bull$h** . Don't let the GOP with all their scare tactics get to you people. Just ask this simple question, How did we get in the shape we are in today? The answer is obvious. It has been under republican leadership! Why would any reasonable person think that they could possibly have any solutions? Most don't even think there is a problem! RUN FROM THE GOP.

  • yea republican are lying, try this on for size.... liebral commies stop lying

  • Rodgers supporters need medical help for Stockholm Syndrome. Rodgers is getting buku bucks from the Health Insurance Lobbies & free GOV HEALTHCARE!

  • GuitarSpeller, You are the liar here. You have no idea how bad it will be when government mandates who and what gets treated and how much.

I can tell you from personal experience that it is a plain fact that health insurers' decisions can be successfully challenged if they deny care.

Good luck to you, if & when you ever have to challenge the government on whether you might receive treatment you believe you're due.

Rogers is right. Disincentivizing is what government DOES whenever it intrudes

  • I am touched by the compassion Mike Rogers has for the health insurance corporations who are making obscene record profits this year while Americans are losing health insurance at the rate of 14,000 per day. Having cancer int he past did not keep him from selling his soul to the devil. They are spending 1.4 mil per day to stop reform. How much of it did Rogers get?
