@Drunkendemonn: Immigration back then, didn't also mean, mass immigration like now. But, mass immigrations then, also didn't go without conflict. Look at the genocides and wars that occured through that. In Europe, but also during the colonisations of other non european countries. Small scale immigration was and shall never be a problem, but mass immigration is. Just because Greeks, Romans and Jews had an impact on Europe, doesn't mean we must ignore our own heritage.

Notice that when the Normans invaded, Angle and Saxon history and heros became "taboo" Perhaps someday school kids will learn of Hengist and Horsa along with George Washington and King Alfred. You would be surprised, US schools don't even teach pre-Norman English history! I didn't even hear of Hengist and Horsa until I was an adult. An old Christmas tradition from pre-Bastard England: A chapter of Beowulf was read on Christmas Eve and everyone wished each other "good health" (Vaesheil)

klopt, wat ik wel grappig vind is dat de Veluwe een natuurreservaat is geworden terwijl de heide daar eigenlijk werd gebruikt vroeger voor landbouw en dus te vergelijken is met industrieparken nu. Het is dus krom weg gezien eigenlijk verwoest land omdat een heide is ontstaan doordat onze voorvaderen eerst bos kapte en de land in brand stak om er vervolgens 20 jaar landbouw op te voeren en dan te verlaten omdat het land toen uitgeput raakte end dat is zien we nu als de natuur :P

@janmetdopet Heidevolk, dus Heide, Heide betekent landschap uit het platteland. Heide is heather in het engels, eigenlijk betekent den bandnaam volk uit de heide. De heidenen zijn dan ook vernoemd naar de mensen uit de heide, het platteland, aangezien zij de laatsten waren die nog "heidens" waren.
