I'm not trying to bash Smithfield. Every business known to man runs on demand. However, It would be silly to believe that the purpose behind this company isn't anything more than for profit. WE AS A SOCIETY need to realize MEAT AS A MAIN SOURCE of food is NOT SUSTAINABLE. I am not some crazed vegetarian. I eat meat. I just have lowered my intake significantly. So much meat is wasted in this country DAILY. Let's stop fighting each other and look for a better future for everyone.

You say this as if people don't lie or stretch the truth. I think you have to listen to both sides, then go and see for yourself with your own eyes.

I have an even easier way of weighing the truth: the meat itself. Eat a piece of Smithfield pork, and the exact same cut from a farm that let's their animals outside or without antibiotics. Believe you me, you will SEE the difference visually and taste the difference IF there is even one (Let's be honest, you and I both know there will be).

Go to their youtube page and watch the video series called, taking the mystery out of pork production. In these videos they interview actual farmers and industry experts. I have family members and friends who have commercial pig farms and I can say that these videos show how pig farming is actually done today. It is sad that activist organizations create documentaries and advertisements which only show old farming methods or farmers who are not doing their job.

Okay Smithfield Foods, enough talk. Prove it through live video that you're changing the way you do things, rather than using computer graphics and technology to "simulate" the things being done about your slaughter houses and cruelty towards animals.

According to the UNEP we have to decrease our meat eating dramatically to save the climate. So no, pigs aren't sustainable food.
