http://www.redlettermedia.com - Finally it's here! The truly epic review/critique/analysis/film making educational video of the 1999 film "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" There was so much to discuss with this film it had to be long so please don't complain. If you think it's too long then don't watch it. In this opening segment I discuss the major flaw of The Phantom Menace which is the characters and the lack of connection with the audience.

What is really sad is that this movie grossed the most. Over 1 billion

There's nothing shitty about them. The problem in my opinion is you people. Your subjective opinion about the movies. :)

I noticed the Charlie and the Chocolate factory example of "getting the girl". I lost my shit.

It's such a shame that those piece of shit prequels are so undeserving of your genuine emotional response.

The characters appealed to me greatly, emotionally and logically. But I do respect your opinion. People see things differently in movie characters. The story of Anakin is the one that appealed to me the most. It's a sad and tragic tale. His path through fear, anger, hate and ultimately suffering.. lured into the dark side by Sidious because he wanted to save the love of his life.. I really felt sorry for him and related to him in so many ways.. to the point where I shed tears. :(

Emotional appeal is precisely what the PT is missing. Logical plot holes are not the issue. In fact, every single character may as well be playing Spock from Star Trek. They have no personality at all and when they do (Jar Jar, Little Annie, Older Annie) they are annoying as hell.
