Red Blood Cells

With a diameter of .0003 of an inch and a rim thickness of only .00001 of an inch, normal red blood cells have a biconcave shape, and elastic properties which allow them to squeeze through the smallest blood vessels.

  • @Silvercordband Oh and one more thing, veins and venuoles are blue due to the tunica externa being blue.

  • @savage147 To clarify, deoxyhemoglobin is dark red in color; whereas, oxyhemoglobin is bright red in color. I don't remember ever seeing blue blood come out of my veins during a plasma donation or in an IV for that matter during a hospital visit.

  • @savage147 Uhhh...

  • @saadounbila The oxyhemoglobin in blood gives the red pigmentation, Deoxyhemoglobin is pigmented a more blue/violet colour which is why deoxygenated blood (venuoles and veins) is blue is appearance.

  • سبحان الله ...

  • @katiundschokolade Does that mean I'm Iron Man?

  • Tonight's the night. It's going to happen again and again. Has to happen. Nice night. Miami is a great town. I love the Cuban food and pork sandwhiches, my favorite. But I'm hungry for something different, now.
