If you mean the music from inside the game, the heavy metal stuff - was from a band called "Bolt Thrower". Games Workshop dabbled with producing British metal bands in exchange for them naming themselves after various GW products.

If anyone re-did it now, it'd be THQ, who now owns the rights to W40k video games.

Yeah, I've tried emailing them, but as usual you get a cryptic response, I'd love it if this game was re-made, its one of my all time favourites.

Games Workshop owns the rights and can pull them from any company when they wish.

@Andulvar Of course, but I doubt they'd pull them from THQ any time soon. The Dawn of War games have been their most successful PC titles.

It had its ups and downs for the time. Basically, what overshadowed this game was the fact that it came out a few months before Quake, and its presentation was sorta convoluted. Beneath all that was a good tactical game with fairly decent graphics. What a person has to understand is that it felt 'clunky' because it was simulating the boardgame fairly closely. In terms of polish, though, Space Hulk 1 was a better game (1993.)
