Your Daily Politics Video Blog: You know the Republican opposition machine has reached a bizarre place when the serious question of the day is whether prominent GOP mouthpieces should continue to call Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor a racist. In today's Sunday Show Roundup we see who takes the bait and who has the gall to actually push back against the racism label.

  • "Sotomayor seems to think her race is "better than" whites"

That isn't at all what she said.

Her speech dealt with judges deciding cases of racial discrimination. Her argument was that she felt a latina judge who actually experienced racism would more often than not come to a better decision on a racism case than a white man who "never lived that life".

She is 100% correct and that isn't racist, it's just plain common sense.

  • Didn't Satamayor say that a Latina woman would have a greater understanding of the Latin community than that of a white judge? I think her comment is being entirely taken out of context.

  • So you don't consider calling for bans of video games, rock, rap, and heavy metal albums, as well as other material that is of an artistic nature (on the grounds that they are all "harmful to minors",) an attempt at silencing free speech? Joe Lieberman's calling for restrictions on youtube. None of these sound like deliberate attempts at censorship? Seriously, the liberals started political correctness, they want to control what you can and can't say just as much as the social conservatives.

  • Chalkies? i have never heard that one.

  • that statement is not racist! its not great writing, or good oratory but she didnt call white people chalkies or anything. she didnt blurt out "honkey" or make fun of our cracker asses. nor did she point out how we can't dance. she said one line with the word better in it. and that one line has been whipped into a media frenzied circle jerk by ultra conservative infotainment programs and the giant spewing mouths of divisive political commentators. this circus sells advertising.

  • This video is about the media trying to turn Republicans against each other. The statement is RACIST. If a white person had said that, they would have never been considered for any position.

  • There is a difference between classifying something as offensive and makeing a LAW to punish those who transgress the model of what counts as offensive.

Hardcore christians find islam offensive, so does that mean they get to have them arrested?

  • How's the job hunt going Ted? Good to see you still have so much free time on your hands.

  • I'm starting to think it's too much just to ask them to read..... anything.... at all.... ever.

  • I haven't once heard a Democrat calling for anyone to be silenced.

They are simply holding people accountable for things that they say. It's not censorship to ask someone if they agree or disagree with a statement.

  • It is not "curbing free speech" to say something is offensive. NO democrat is proposing that they shouldn't be able to say what they want, they are saying that their arguments are retarded.

  • What i got from this vid...

The Republican party refuses to stop playing racial politics.

How could they stop? when Racists are just about all they have left in the "current" Republican party, The party has collapsed and the moderates have left to become Independents some even changed to Democrats.

The "current" Republican party is made up of Woman haters, Sexist, Racist, KKK, Skinheads, and Seperatists (in the case of those wanting Texas to secede the Union).

    The current Repub base.
