Kaizen is a Japanese work ethic popularly practiced today. It refers to a continuous improvement process that while slow and incremental, is constant.

The literal translation is, "Kai" meaning change; "Zen" meaning good. "Good change."

Within this concept there is much beauty and balance regarding how to live life well. Kaizen is about embracing change willingly and with zest; recognizing its goal of harmony. Kaizen integrates a non-judgmental approach through small, regular steps made to improve one's overall life.

"Perfection is attained by slow degrees; it requires the hand of time"

  • 改善 = improve/change to better/good (chinese common phrase)

  • 改善(gai shan) is Chinese word.I understand that Chinese Hanzi(or Kanji in Japanese)are still being used in Japanese Writing, along w/hiragana& katakana..but this is a common word& every chinese uses this phrase every now and then.Confucionism("Master Kong",551-479BChas been a great influence to Japanese Culture..and so this wisdom is originally from Chinese..just like, "love your neighbor" is originally from Judaism and not Christianity or others..
