This theme song fucking rocks. It's up there with the Defenders of the Earth and the King Arthur and the Knights of Justice for best cartoon theme of all time.

Technically, the word zombie has two meanings; 1, in mythology a zombie is a reanimated corpse that has been brought back to life by either sorcery, or plague, with a hunger for human flesh. This is common in most zombie movies. 2, a zombie can also be a living human being who has been placed under a form of mind control. In this cartoon, the zoners were not undead zombies but were living human beings who have lost their humanity through an infection caused by the spiral zone.

I still remember the intro by the way. And there is this creepy part in the intro where Max Jones grabs an infected kid in his grip. And we even see a close up of Max and the kid. What was creepy about that part was looking the possessed look on the kid's face. The good guys were called the "Zone Riders" the bad guys were called the "Black Widows" and the people infected with the virus were called Zoners. But I guess that's basically the same thing as a mindless zombie.

I haven't seen this show in years. And I don't remember too much because its been so long ago. The intro theme song is quite dark and has that sci-fi horror aspect to it. I also remember that it the bad guys in this show used a virus that turned people into zombies. Creepy. Correct me if I'm wrong, But it seems to me that Spiral Zone was partly the inspiration for Resident Evil.
