I'd LOVE a parrot. These are beautiful birds but I don't know what I would get.. Can't at the moment because we have a cat but maybe sometime in the future :) Your two young boys are gorgeous!!

I just had someone tell me that all Eclectus die young because no one can provide the correct diet for them in real life. I'm calling Bull on it but since you seem to have babies and maybe are a breeder, please tell me that she's full of it? We just put a deposit on an ekkie today and she's making us feel like crap for falling in love with one of those sweet little ekkie boys.

They can if you don't provide the proper diet. The Eclectus have a longer digestive tract than other parrots so more of the nutrients, and anything else like preservatives (bad for the eccies) are absorbed by their bodies. In the wild their diet consists of nutrient sparse foods, fruits, nuts, berries, blossoms, buds and nectar. You should not give your eccie supplemental vitamins or minerals unless a deficiency has been diagnosed by a vet.
