My question is why are we paying taxes for these professionals in the bureaucracy to come up with answers based on their extensive expertise on these issues if moronic politicians are just going to ignore them when it doesn't suit them and their lobby driven policies?

Newt: the real reason why the oil price AND the price of other commodities came down during the past few weeks is because the USD has found a temporary bottom and rallying a bit, as Ron Paul points out. It is NOT because of the Bush announcement about offshore drilling as some Republicans believe nor is it because of the speculators, as many Democrats believe.

The price will go down if the Demand goes down, but not until then.
Talking about getting more oil is not going to make the speculators any less aggressive around there pricing.
They are only going to get more aggressive as Consumption goes up.

Some of the morons on this page need a lesson in basic economics. Oil went up because the buyers speculate what FUTURE supply and demand will be, if they see demand going up and supply staying level or declining the price goes up, if they think we might change the laws to allow drilling then they SPECULATE the supply will be greater then prices go down. Get your heads out of your asses and learn how the real world works. Without oil 95% of people would starve in less than 6 months. Cities go 1st

I got news for you Newtie. Oil is falling because the rising price has finally choked the world's economies to a standstill, and DEMAND is declining. Newt should stick to screwing his secretary and stay away from commenting on things he knows nothing about.
