**WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY!**

6/24/09: After getting off of Amtrak 07T in Altoona and picking up the Domino's and breaking into the breadbowl pasta, the 23M was heard in Altoona talking to the 6300, which along with the 6306 would be the helper giving the 23M its push up the hill. About 15 minutes later the sound of that constant EMD roar was heard as the 23M rounded the corner and slammed westbound over the S. 10th Ave grade crossing, better known as "The Brickyard". The SD40-E's may not be SD40-2's...but hey, when the helper switch on the mountain is complete...I'll take em!!

  • "The Brickyard"! Great looking rail location with a cool name. Should be a Pub. I love the train videos done here. You did a great job on this one. The light is perfect. Thanks!

  • Yea, that's my favorite time to be there too, late afternoon/early evening. The light that time of day is...well, GREAT.

  • What does "brickyard" mean?

  • Off to right on the south side (Track 1 side) theres a building where they apparently used to make bricks. Whether they still do or not I have no idea, but because of the brickyard right next to the tracks, thats how this location got the name "The Brickyard" many years ago, dating back to PRR or PC days I think.

  • awsome again ! !

  • Thanks man, glad you're liking the new vids. I'll keep em comin don't worry!!

  • nice emd roar the sd40e's dont sound that bad but i still like the dash 2 better!

  • SD40Es are technally Altoona Shops re-built, but, of corse, they are EMD decendents. (SD50 to 40E)

  • Man, that thing was crawlin' : )

  • Speechless.

  • this vidoe is amazing

  • Nothing like some home grown helpers straight from Altoona PA!

  • I enjoy a good SD70, standard or wide cab, anyday. Once EMD, always EMD.

  • Well, it just always strikes me silly to see an SD70 standard cab actually in the consist of a train up here!! Excellent catch with the EMD lash-up, i saw about 20 in the last trip, which lasted 3 days
