It's funny how it really differs from Rach's recording - yet is so musically correct. My teacher once told me it is either them being bad musicians or you having the wrong sheet music (after showing her numerous interpretations of this piece, and none completely followed rach's indications). This is how she played it when she read the music and I believe this is what rachmaninoff wanted.

I love this piece, but this performance is the first time I have been moved to tears

wow I love this version. Funny I was just listening to another version and thought it didn't bring out the emotions enough.

good job, but i don't love it. too sentimental.

My piano teacher made me watch this interpretation, said he liked it better than Rachmaninoff's own recoding. :P
I was warned it would be really slow; but this guy gets most music out of this piece, other interpretations might be more spectacular/epic, but they miss a lot of beautiful details in this piece that Berezovsky does play.
2:36-2:47 illustrates this, in other recordings I've heard it's faster and more epic, but a whole lot less music. This is less spectacular, but much more beautiful

Too slow? Naaah, he's probably sight reading it! XD
