Here is a 1976 Briggs & stratton 2hp engine, that i did a few mods to. I took a car coil and put on it, and it feels a lot more powerful with this coil. The tacometer i hooked up, doesent show the right rpm.

  • @kiarra00 ok cool, the exhaust is gonna be a bit of a bitch coz its one of those old push in clip mufflers and thats turned to shit, ill have to weld a plate to some pipe and drill and tap new holes for the exhaust flange

  • @angrygunsmith If it's a 2 stroke you just need to turn the carb, so it's the right way. You shouldn't run the 2 stroke without exhaust, it can sieze up because the piston will get very hot.

  • @kiarra00 i forgot to mention that it is a two stroke engine, so theres no exhaust valve to speak of, or oil slinger. but otherwise you say that the carb is important not so much the port???? if i can move the port though should I?

  • @angrygunsmith The carb needs to be the right way, it doesen't matter what way the intake is. It's not a good idea to run you're engine without the exhaust, it will burn the exhaust valve if you run it to long. It probably revved up because of different backpressure, and it will most likely run normal when you put the exhaust back on. Also if you're converting it you need to use an oil slinger from a horizontal engine, orelse it might sieze up.

  • @kiarra00 its a vertical shaft that im converting into horizontal, which brings me to ask, do i need to change the orientation of just the carb, or the carb and the intake port aswell? the intake port is aN S shapeed kinda thing, Also i started my engine without the exhaust yesterday and it was idling really high, infact pushing the throttle owuldnt make a difference, will putting the exhaust back on make it run as normal or is there soemthin else wroong?

  • @angrygunsmith You won't cause engine damage if you remove the blade from an engine with a lightweight flywheel, but it won't run properly on idle and it will kick back when you're starting it. The weight of a clutch and wheel might help a little, but not much. If you're engine is a horizontal shaft it has a heavy flywheel and you won't need to worry about it.

  • @kiarra00 so without that 1kg blade on the other end you can cause some engine damage right, well would that mean if i were to put a clutch on the propshaft connected to the back wheel of my bike, would that act as a load, would this mean that when the clutch isnt activated i am causing engine damage?

  • @seasonedtoker Idiot... Horizontal shaft Briggs have a heavier flywheel. Because they were not designed to work with blade!! That's why you can run them like this.

  • @mrprofile101 yeah

  • it will run without the shroud for quite awhile, i often would do it if i had a govenor that wasnt working right until i fixed it
