DAZ 3D is free, you can get it here http://www.daz3d.com/
you will need to register an account to get the activation code, its also free

you will also need these files http://static-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/downloads/avatar/avatar_mesh.zip

load the sl avatar into the scene and begin animating and export your animation to BVH (be sure to check the SL compatibility checkbox)

  • Hey, I downloaded DAZ Studio 4, and I tried to learn how to use it with the tutorials that they provide but they suck hard.

I am just trying to import the male Avatar from second life (which I am able to do.) and save it as a character so I can recall the same model when I need to create a different animation. The problem, I do not know how to save it so that way it will show up in my menu tabs, and the tutorials for DAZ studio help you alter their presets, but not create and alter your own.

  • Hey man thanks for the download. I was curious if it was possible to download the avatar from second life for free? Is it possible or did Linden Labs decided to be stingy?

  • @gameexe Thanks You very much!!!!

  • A little suggestion: Do not alienate people. I started watching, but stopped simply because of "Can't do 3d" and "Mostly used for porn". This is not completely true. Daz Studios was built in the opposition of Poser 5, and both programs are figure animator/rendering. It also allows people who can model the ability to create bones for the character. Instructional video is fine, but one rule of thumb is to avoid generalizations.
