this is without a doubt one of the best movies i've seen. plays with the mind so well. the vast majority of these new "horror films" don't manage even close what the masterpiece that is The Tenant does.

He is an ordinary individual that rents an apartment.The perio tennant was Simone Chouls ,who had jumped trough the window. He goes to see her at the hospital and there is a macabre scene when she starts to scream.Since she had left her costumes in the room, he assumes schizophrenically her identity and does the same. Actually ,he jumps from the window twicw and the film ends when he sees himself with Isabelle Adjani visiting Simone and just yelling as she did.Such an underrated film!

I love it when he puts on the dress for the first time. It's extremely funny, disturbing and the most important scene of the movie - Simone Choule has won and the caterpillar turns into a butterfly.

A 1976 movie about the loss of identity: Polanski was way ahead of his time.

Very Strange Film, but extremely good, you have to watch it several times to get the hang of it.

The sound is out of sync a bit. As best as I can explain he's going utterly insane. He believes the tenants around him are trying to drive him to the point of suicide by doing stuff like putting the former tenants make up on him while he was sleeping (I think he did it just doesn't remember). He decides that if they're gonna try to make him crazy he'd play along and dress like her as to kind of try to defeat what they were trying to do. If you haven't seen it, then make time cause its a mindfuck

i would have posted at least one more scene had i had it but it got erased over: the scene in which the big obnoxious guy has roman over to show him how apartment life is done and turns on the big band music really loud and then just waylays into the neighbor who come to complain. actually all the scenes with that guy. could you post those?
