The Red Train of New Castle County,Delaware. The Box is a classic 1993 Saulsbury Walk-in, placed on a 2011 Pierce Arrow cab and chassis. All tree sirens are from the previous truck. The old air horns were too long to fit in the mounts,so I said "I'll put the new one's back on.

  • I love the Q but Dammit man lay off it. Love the train horns on the rescue Frank.

  • @Eng3CFD I just had to put train horns on it.I got the idea originally from Pikesville,MD and Walkersville,MD

  • frank still see the officers still dont know how to run the Q.

  • @ohiobwb Thats how they do.Ain't no changing that.

  • @fmartinjr

Frank, those K5LAs kick ass when they're used, and normally, you'd only hear the K5LAs on the railroad, in Pikesville, MD, and Walkersville, MD! Now you'll hear them in Newport, DE, and there will be no stopping that Red Train! Ha!

  • @kurtdog119 I actually got the idea from the Maryland companies.

The "Mechanical siren cut-out" switch in the cab of the truck next to the officer is the siren brake. Federal Signal just doesn't make their Q sirens like they used to. When you press the floor button for the siren, activate the siren brake, and what that does is it quickly winds the siren all the way down so you don't have to let it coast. The older Q sirens from the 1970s,1980s and 1990s didn't have a siren brake, so they were called coasting sirens.

  • Thanks for laying off the PA-300. The first-due company where I live I swear it MUST be S.O.P. they almost ALWAYS just set the electronics on Wail and stand on the Q for every intersection. Not too much air horn use, though. The officer controls the electronic, while the driver has the Q pedal and the horns in the center of the steering wheel. Their 2 newest trucks even have a "Mechanical siren cut-out" switch on the engine hood next to the officer. Can you say B-A-C-K-W-A-R-D-S??

  • The horn on the rescue is EPIC !! I love it !

  • I like the federal q better than the one that sounds like an ambulance
