@EPGAH It was to do with many jobs being available to Blacks during wartime in the Forties. Many Blacks in LA had decent, skilled jobs. Then the factories started closing, and the Blacks weren't transferred anywhere. That is what 'no job security' is. It isn't just wether other people can do your job, but wether you can get another similar job. The Black population went from being needed, and having skilled jobs, to being unwanted, and having unskilled jobs.

The skilled Black workforce was lost.

@57worldwide Without outside interference, if an area cannot support a population, they will die off to some Equilibrium Point. Welfare to keep them alive, or importing huge numbers of people from places even worse places disrupts this equilibrium.

Lack of job security is only if there are too many people who can do a job, and not enough jobs for them all. I would think that was the fault of the minorities breeding too much, despite America pushing birth-control since 1914?

@EPGAH I never said the decline in population is necessarily a bad thing.

For fuck's sake, we have been over this already. Large immigration to LA; relatively well paying, skilled employment, but with no job security and no real career options; factories closing in LA and many people out of work and unable to find employment; the problem is not that they can't support themselves. It's the remnant of a previous problem, which was swept under the rug - as you say, out of sight, out of mind.

@57worldwide Why do you consider declining population to be a bad thing? Other than that incompetent leaders will let in losers from other countries to upset the population seeking its Equilibrium Point?

As to being left to their own devices, that would imply that there's something wrong with them if they can't support themselves. Like I said before, if they can't survive without stealing, they don't deserve to survive, and it's their own fault. We don't let them fail enough so they'd change!

Some cities are overpopulated - but consider Germany: total fertility rate was 1.4 - Germany's population is characterised by a zero or declining growth rate. The food which is wasted in the developed world is enough to feed the starving in the undeveloped world.

They aren't being set up to fail. The poor are usually ignored and left to their own devices. LA, for example, has a poor area which is not directly due to design.

@57worldwide If you believe they are being set up to fail, then maybe they should not be given self-determination in the first place. Better to be controlled and have a guaranteed living, than to be left to fail on their own devices or turn to steal from those that CAN succeed, right?

Or if you want to be a tit darker about it, the world IS overpopulated, maybe failures need to be allowed to die?

@EPGAH You know that's not what I'm saying. Like I have been saying to you, for too long now, to get out of poverty requires planning. Someone who doesn't have the skills to plan, or doesn't think into the future further than a few months, lacks something necessary to get themselves out of poverty. People on lower incomes, who win the lottery, are more likely to end up with less than before they won (due to lack of planning skills).

You can't lack one necessary skill and succeed. You know that.

Unless, you meant that they just "can't control themselves", in which case I'm right there with you. I've been saying for months that those who can't control themselves need to be controlled.

We've established America's the Humane Society of the world now, let's start spaying and neutering the strays! Didn't Bob Barker&PETA have a PSA about that?
