Headshaking is a very serious problem which can make your horse dangerous not only for itself but also for its riders. Some horses might be sold and even killed after the owner finds it out. When this appeared on my pony, I tried to do everything to keep him in training.

  • @danmoncz I've actually been looking into making my own version of the Guardian Mask (mainly for the size and looks) I have a group on Yahoo! groups called "My horse has Head-Shaking" if you'd like to join I post helpful website and I'm going to start posting what works and what doesn't for me :)

  • @palomino5603 I´ve just joined your group. Their mask needs improvement - I would cover ears, the whole muzzle and add their eye pads blocking the sunshine. I have to wait till winter is over here and then I´ll try to combine my mask with the guardian one. I can return it if it´s not successful. I´ll make more videos and post them so that we can check the difference. I´ve seen a video here when a girl makes her own nose net using simple black pany hose. Cheap and easy...

  • @danmoncz Yeah Buddy is always better in the winter and defintely worse in the spring/summer there is finally hope though. More vets and universities are doing research on it and coming up with solutions. I'm going to try a special mask that blocks almost all UV light to his eyes soon, I'll let you know how it works! :)

  • @palomino5603 That would be great! Thanks. Any improvement would make me happier. I´d say that my horse is in much worse condition than yours. I´ve read that usually geldings and horses with white nose have this problem but it´s obviously not always the case.

  • @palomino5603 I´ve visited this website about the Guardian Mask. They offer the masks that block the light. This may be the case of our horses which seem to react to the sunlight. My pony has blue eyes, which are said to be very sensitive. Please, let me know the result after you try the mask. I´d buy it too for the next summer season.

  • My horse has this same condition :( I haven't been able to ride him for about a year now. I've heard fly masks that block light have been known to help.

  • @palomino5603 I´ve seen your video Buddy Nose Twitching. Yeah, its basically the same condition. I bought him as a helathy horse, this appeared later. At first, we thought he is simply naughty, doing this under saddle but it got worse and worse. In winter, he behaves fine again. People in my country do not know much about this disease and they usually think it is connected with an alergy to fly bites because it appears in the warm season. Horses like that are usually sold.

  • My horse is a photic headshaker. He just started it up again this year. It's too bad i came back, it sucks to ride with. But he spends all day in his stall, and goes out at night. I can still ride him, but he wears a special mask and stuff.

  • @danmoncz The panty horse thing doesn't work at least on Buddy I ended up pulling it out of his mouth 3-4 times before I said screw it lol My camera gave out on me a few weeks ago so I'm in the process of resurecting my old one. When I find everything for it I plan on something the difference between very sunny days and cloudy/rainy days, hot vs cold etc. :) Feel free to post videos or websites in the group :D
