Avro Blue steel Missile

The Avro Blue Steel was a British air-launched, rocket-propelled nuclear stand-off missile, built to arm the V bomber force. It was the primary British nuclear deterrent weapon until the Royal Navy started operating Polaris missile armed nuclear submarines
Blue Steel was the result of a Ministry of Supply memorandum from 5 November 1954 that predicted that by 1960 Soviet air defences would make it prohibitively dangerous for V bombers to attack with nuclear gravity bombs. The answer was for a rocket-powered, supersonic missile capable of carrying a large nuclear (or projected thermonuclear) warhead with a range of at least 50 miles (80 km). This would keep the bombers out of range of Soviet ground-based defences installed around the target area, allowing the warhead to "dash" in at high speed.


Blue Steel was officially retired on 31 December 1970, with the United Kingdom's strategic nuclear capacity passing to the submarine fleet.

Instead you decided to engage in a tirate about the right to post such comments. That being said, there is a big difference between the right to and the NEED to. I may think about such comments too, but I don't see the need to post them, even if I have the right to.

@evilintel is the comment realy worth defending ? No! But its my comment and somebody says something against me, who i totally don't know, in a very arrogant way. And as far as i see it i am allowed to defend myself then. This is what i expect to much from ppl on the internet but ffs a little bit respect would make it a such nicer spot. @evilintel i never said i expected to support me, but they can do see other ppl can see things different. just said my thought which was indeed at the time i bit less intelligent. And indeed not everybody would find it funny but don't be an (smart)ass and say "no it didn't" ofcourse it didn't take a shit, it looked like that for me. If you want to talk about 'multiple insights' and 'anticipation', how about considering the fact not everyone will find that kind of thing funny, and will respond accordingly.
