Giriraj puja is performed by the Gokul residents after they are convinced that they must leave Indra puja and start performing Giriraj puja after the lucid talk by Krishna.
On getting this news, Indra gets angry and orders the God of Rain -- Megh to punish these group of people so that no one on the world can make such a daring and mistake. Megh now goes down to the earth in Gokul and starts pouring in rains which may not stop!
Krishna asks the villagers to take shelter beneath the Govardhan which he will lift. This swaroop of Krishna is called as Govardhan-nath!
