Kobe's 4th quarter performance won the game. Both scoring and assisting. The 4 point play that fouled out Fernadez was the play of the tournament. Bottom line is that with all the best players in the world, Coach K called The Mamba's number when the gold medal was on the line.

Why would anyone one think that Kobe is solely responsible for the US wining the gold medal? It was the first time in 8 years that the US was able to get all of their best players to play. Thats why we won. The best players were on the team. Kobe is the best of all of them. But im sure it wouldnt have been hard to win without any one single player on this team.

@htycvc Well to be fair, that 2004 team wasn't coached right. Larry Brown has a thing agianst young players and he refused to play LeBron, Wade, and Melo in key moments cuz they were young guys, even tho the US played their best with those 3 on the floor. 2006 they got burned by Greece cuz they had no quality big man to stop the man Greek player (black guy, I forget his name). Yes adding Kobe was the missing ingredient, but you can't blame those 3 for what happened in 2004 and 2006.

If you remember, this was the same team that in 2004 and 2006 when the chips were down they folded because Lebron, Melo and Wade couldn't close it out. This time you just call time out and let Kobe go to work just like the Lakers do.
