  • You are a retard Beatfury. Be quiet about things you don't understand.

  • Yep, she's going to have the opera freaks, purists, (and retards) after her blood alright. She should be very proud, it shows that she has made it already.

  • Does Gray Bartlett have a laboratory where he creates these sub-mediocre female singing clones?

Gray better watch out, one dark stormy night they're all going to rise like zombies and kill their master!

  • Interesting conversation below. Still continuing about every opera/popera singer really. In my opinion opera and popera are two distinct things with different jobs. Opera is classical because it uses techniques and interpretation of past composer ideals, popera is not. Opera singers keep amazing music alive and explore what can be done with it. Popera singers make that music more accessible to people who would otherwise not listen to it. Each to their own as to which they prefer. Personal taste.

  • Album sales has absolutely nothing to do with Hayley's version being more appreciated. LOL

I don't hate any of these singers personally (unless they lie to me). I just hate that blind people believe that this is opera when IN FACT it isn't. I am not jealous of any of these fakes. If these people feel success at poisoning the name of opera, fine by me. :)But, if you're allowed to openly say you love them, I'm allowed to say I hate them.

  • I'm sure just as many people love pure opera.

I, actually, can say what I think is good or bad singing. And, actually, there IS a correct way to sing opera...if you're not too blinded by these fakes you'll see that it's true. I already told you that classical music is a very loose term. Many people like popera, many people hate it. I'm in the opinion of the latter.

  • The comment is based on the number of records sold featuring Westenra's version.

    I repeat:

"Some historians think early forms of opera were similar to crooners like Frank Sinatra."

I can give you a link to articles saying this.

Hating someone's music is one thing, hating them personally is another. You have a lot of hate, nastiness, jealousy in you. Westenra's version of O Mio is excellent and no impartial person would disagree. Get some counselling about your hatred.

  • Many think opera is crap. To me it is risibly silly. Why anyone would want to sing like that is beyond me. Dr Johnson and a large number of other equally famous people have rubbished it.

You have no authority to tell me or anyone else what is good or bad singing, Windy. Nor any authority to tell us how opera should be sung. Nor any authority to tell us what classical music is. Nor any authority to tell us what is art. Many people prefer popera. Their opinions are as valid as yours.

  • Westenblah's version is more appreciated and more heard? I highly doubt that. Prove that statement. I believe Callas' rendition is much more appreciated and renowned.

'some historians....' Well, when they bring me proof, I'll believe it. I have a hard time believing that Frank Sinatra would have sung 'Nessun Dorma' a couple hundred years ago. *eyeroll*

  • Some historians think early forms of opera were similar to crooners like Frank Sinatra. There was a time too, when opera was sung more like the crossover people do it. But this dosen't matter. That music does not belong to the classical purists. I can sing it in the bathtub if I want to and if Norman Lebrect (dumb critic) tries to stop me, I'll smack his face in. Westenra's version of O Mio is appreciated by more people than any other version and has been heard more than any other version.

  • I have yet to see 'many think it artistically superior.' Her O Mio Babbino Caro isn't just a different take on a classic aria. It's just terrible. I've had MANY experienced singers (pop, opera, any genre really) agree with me that she is absolute rubbish. Kiri was right about Westenblah. She's a fake.

  • Your rubbishing of Westenra's version is just to rile me. So many people like it. Why in the name of God must they resemble modern opera, why? We aren't in the same world here, you'll never understand what I'm saying. I'm saying that I don't accept that opera is the summit of human vocalism. NO, THEY DON'T RESEMBLE OPERA AND THANK GOD FOR THAT!

OPERA COULDN'T PULL A DRUNK OFF ITS SISTER LET ALONE AN AUDIENCE. THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO SING OPERA. (THANK GOD).
