    i realize it's very late, but in case you still want to know:

    Nathan (a gambler) and Adelaide (a showgirl) are going to get married, but it's taking them forever cause nathan...can't get money? or something?

    unrelated, nathan bets sky (another gambler) that sky can't get sarah (a mitionary, very uptight) to fall in love with him. complications ensue, sky gets sarah drunk, adelaide storms about a lot, and in the end SPOILER everyone lives happily ever after and the men gamble no more.
