These little guys grow fast, so they outgrow their nursery tank (10 gallons) at about 3 weeks of age. So, I needed another tank to help them grow a bit before I toss them back in with the big guys. This tank is 38 gallons. I have orange blotch female Labeotropheus trewavasae, blue yellow and orange top male L. trewavasae, Pseudotropheus demasoni and Pseudotropheus acei. These fish are easy to breed and maintain, at least for me. My tank care is more of a habit than a chore.
I find planning and setting up a fishtank to be the best part of owning a fishtank!
I didn't want to narrate with my voice, so I set this video to music.
Enjoy a blast from the past as you listen to Herbie Hancock's ROCK IT.

  • I don't want to seem like an idiot, but would please mind telling me the difference between a male and female orange blotch? Thanks!

  • @rednight0985 No question is a silly question. It depends on which species of fish you have. These are labeotropheus trewavasae, and they are easy to tell apart, the males are blue with bright orange fins and the females are orange blotch (orange blotch is simply a color, not a species of fish)

    Hope this helps :)

  • what type of grating is that you lined the tank with and where can i purchase some?

  • @vanished88

    Lowes

go to the lighting department, it is recessed lighting material, I think LOL

    It is called "eggcrate"

    Hope this helps :)
