Come to think of it, since Ulty was actually taking control of Rinoa during this time, wouldn't she over-hear what Squall said here? I'm sure she had a chuckle listening to Squall.

I thought Cloud was complicated...Then came Final Fantasy 8.
Squall is self-conscious but I can't blame him. I remember all those times I used to have in high school when I acted like a hard-ass quiet guy because I was afraid of other people's criticisms. A lot of American teenagers are spoiled, pretentious twats. They complain if they don't have a cell phone, or a car, or a VIDEO game. This crap nurtures a lack of empathy and it becomes easy to tease someone who refuses to conform to others.
