I listened to this song the first time when I was just 7 years old and Nana Mouskouri definitely made me weep. And now after many years it still makes me choke with tears when i render it...
War just brings untold misery to mankind and brings out the worst in human beings. Children suffer the worst and as Leonard Cohen portrays them "They will always lean out for love and they will lean that way forever" in Suzanne as they have nowhere to go......hemmed in with a cartload of travails even before their life has begun.

Dedicated to all of those who have lost their near and dear ones in wars.
