How each Christmas you kept us enthralled
By the empty sherry glass and plate of crumbs
Left by the fireplace over night, from where
You had carefully removed the gas fire to maintain
The pretense, and the sight of all those presents
Spilling out from one forested corner.

Cameras were still something magical to me
And as I held my half smile, frozen, you seemed
To leap into the background, just like a magician
Suddenly appearing on a curtain-less stage. Was it you
Who had arranged the camera or had you just arrived
Home, unexpectedly, and liked what you saw?

Andrew,can't sleep as usual,Nosferato..lol,,this vid+poem brought a tear to my eye.Didn't have my dad around as a child,so didn't get to experience christmas gatherings like this,I have just 1 photo on my mantlepiece of mum,dad+me..getting old+faded..much like mum+dad...lol...what a wonderful photograph..you were a cute kid!! your dad looked like a charcater for sure!! take care Sophie x:))
