part 1 of 2 :: Spring / Summer 2009 Ready-to-wear runway show :: Maison Martin Margiela :: the collection showed in the former Paris morgue :: this occasion also celebrated Maison Martin Margiela's 20 years in the biz. The rumors that this was also to be Margiela's retirement party, proved to be false.
Margiela's aides, wearing the identifiable MMM white lab coat smilingly crowded audience into the cavernous, cold as the grave, black hall.
The show was something of a party. Champagne was served in plastic tumblers (by request of host). Designers Rick Owens, Gareth Pugh, Proenza Schouler and Haider Ackermann were seated front row.
