  • buddy should put on the chains that i see hanging on the back of the tool cabinet.

  • @AltEffOr He tried, they didn't work. Too icy. No traction. The ice was shaped perfectly to his drive wheels as a result of many other days of snow and melt and freezing again plus multiple other vehicles getting stuck at the same spot made really smooth and tough ice. I got him out with my ice spade blade shovel. He was happy.

  • One van I saw was halfway out into the busy street! That was because the snow was piled up too high and they parked due to the bad conditions. I actually called the number on the truck to let them know to come and get it since the ICE and SNOW had melted leaving their truck in halfway into the middle of one of the two lanes of the busy street. It was gone in two hours.

Some winter. Another one is on the way.

  • Oh, that car wasn't mine. My vehicle stayed parked (in an off street location) until the worst of the snow had melted as it's not very good in snow being a one rear wheel drive van. Next time I get a four wheel drive vehicle. Most residents in the area have to park on the streets though. That car however was parked fine in a residents only spot but the city was lenient since many people abandoned their cars parking in the easiest and closest spots regardless of the parking regulations.

  • The funniest one was the cop car that got stuck; it was funny since he refused any help from about five people who offered... after a couple of minutes someone helped push his car anyway and he got out. Not even a word of thanks out his open window for the help. Guess he had pressing business on his mind.

  • Had he driven with a bit more forward velocity exiting the alley he might have made it.

The snow had dumped in unusual quantities and Vancouver usually is above freezing in the winter so it was melting and freezing forming nasty ICE under all that snow. For a couple of weeks very few cars were driving around due to the ICE conditions. Most cars that attempted to drive these side streets got stuck. I can't remember how many I helped push out or dig out. This alley intersection captured >30!

  • my idea would be to keep loading it with garbage to get more traction :P

  • Imagine that more GARBAGE trucks stuck in the snow...... Buy proper plow trucks.........A little cinders go a long way under them wheels...

  • I don't understand, why don't use snow chain?

  • Garbage trucks who service those kind of wintery snowy areas should have 4X4

  • Zu glatt...da gibts wohl kwin entkommen mehr.
