SecuCert Technology Protection

CONNET is Slovenian high tech venture backed company. We are working on the advanced technology platform SecuCert for passive and active protection against phishing and copycat which has been in development since late 2008. The platform is now well tested and many times awarded in Slovenia and EU. I would like to descibe you the situation we are living in.
Take a look a little bit in history. While we needed decades to clean the Europe after industrial revolution and made it again suitable for living, we will hopefully not need decades too to clean our digital environment after first round of information revolution. We needed a lot of regulation and huge investments to repair the damage done by uncontrolled liberal industrial revolution. The situation at the beginning of industrial revolution was the same as when information revolution started. Technology lead the development and all procedures. Useful and harmful one, without exceptions. We have the same situation on Internet right now. For example: Subliminal advertising is forbidden on TV and inside movies, but widely used on Internet. We have majority of websites without any identity - which every single one is violating our consumer protection rights. Consumer has right to know who is selling him something, who is advertising him, ... who is on the other side. EU Consumer protection directive says so, well it is also logical right. Current situation gives a lot of space for phishing, copycat, pharming, ... while companies are forced to run only for profit, on the other side consumers remain completely unprotected... Studies of American universities show that visitor's trust in Internet is in permanent decrease since 2001.
I'm sure that we are not able to move the information society on higher level until a new package of regulations and technology protection is in place. They need to protect consumers and believe it or not, it will protect the merchants too. Why also merchants? Well to understand this we should ask ourselves Who profits out of this situation? Mostly big non EU companies using Internet as Wild West territories in John Wayne times. Seven years ago 80% of visitors were visiting 20% of websites. At this moment statistics show that 99% of visitors are visiting 1% of websites. Internet is becoming a monopoly because of the syndrom of dangerous streets. E-commerce in Europe is in stagnation and it is not to believe that something might be magically changed until the consumers will be protected as it already should be. Until the level of trust is decreasing we cannot predict that the e-commerce will grow fast and efficiently. We prepared a technology and concepts which can solve this problem on very efficant way, however we would like to have wider support and cooperation of many institutions which are interested in better future Internet. The benefits for all of us will be significant. What we would like to have is "ecological" Internet, without too many garbage, transparent and easy to use, much safer and really free without monopolies and traps. Internet which will really give opportunity for e-commerce, e-government and e-society boom.
