Released, I think, around 2006 on Entschuldigen records.

Geoff Mullen is an experimental recording artist. He used guitar, banjos, bias altered amplifiers and some loop and delay boxes. Probably some other equipment too, but no computers. 6 untitled tracks spread over 38+ minutes.

The Good : This album is pretty original and thought provoking. The listener will be guessing what is going on the whole time. Lots of new sounds. a good album if you're into crackle and fuzz and drones. Limited edition. Hand pressed case and a neat little clothe bag with hand cut pictures is included. Incorporates elements of noise, ambient and electronic music. The abundance and volume of drones and noise will turn on fans of experimental music. The fact that this kind of music was made without a computer is very admirable.

The Bad : Confusing and kind of cluttered. This album can be very challenging to get into because you're not sure what it's trying to express. Some of the sounds don't sound like they should be together, like the guitar picking played over some crackles and pops. The sheer amount of distorted sounds and huge tones may overwhelm some listeners. The fact that this music is pretty unstructured and non formulaic will be a deterrent.

In conclusion, this is some mighty fine experimental music. Very dense and layered. I enjoy thought provoking music and a good challenging listen. Another album that doesn't instantly gratify the listener.

Fans of treated static and fuzz and feedback and distortion should get a kick out of this. Some ambient drone fans might dig this as well. Definitely not for everybody. Cool music to get lost in.

3.7/5

  • i think that's a reusable tea bag. perhaps this album reaches peak perfection when enjoyed with a nice cup of tea.

  • As most things are. I'm a pretty big green tea fan. Definitley helps the expereimental music go down.

  • Kind of makes me feel like I'm dying and going to purgatory.... intriguing is a good way of putting it Philip. I do find it pretty intriguing.

  • Hahaha ! My video makes you feel like dying or the music ?

  • yaaaay some of my favorite nighttime viewing. haha hand stamped. cockfest in the living room. this is like comedown music. don't know if i'm too into this, but excellent review as always.

  • Hahaha. This could very well be good comedown music. Something to stimulate your brain while you close you eyes. I find music like this very intriguing. Helps me forget about the army's of Gaga's just outside my door.

  • lol shut up PHILIP!

  • I'm doing good, thanks for asking.

  • Yeah, this had some Tim Hecker elements here, but wasn't as lush and ambient. It was still pretty intriguing though. Lots of crazy new sounds.

  • Unpronounceable !!
