@steviea427 I agree! The Kinks were one of the top ten most infuential bands of their generation!
-
@ForeverYoung58 Yes, the juxtaposition IS very cool. As is being able to seamlessly use the word "juxtaposition" in a sentence.
-
@JNagarya Well than consider me among the Pavlovian salivators. She was a doll, and a sweet kid, too. I just found the juxtaposition of someone from the teen idol era introducing the great and rawest British Invasion band to be pretty cool stuff. And that era after the first burst of rock and roll and before the Beatles was not a total waste. There were some interesting things going on even then, some of it behind the scenes. The foundation for a new era was taking shape.

@ForeverYoung58 When Elvis was drafted, Chuck Berry jailed, and Buddy Holly killed, the music industry stepped in and produced fake teen idols. One of those fakes was Annette Funicello. The only "talent" she had was big boobs for Pavlovian salivators.
-
@nixongill Annette "No Talent" Funicello was not one to be introducing that which was over her head and beyond her cokmprension.
-
Yep. Annette introducing the Kinks is about as good as it gets.
-
you got that right... the voice of the 99!!!!!!
The Kinks were stripped down punk before anyone else knew what that was. Even Pete Townshend acknowledges that the Who were inspired by the kick-assnes of the Davies bros. You can tell by the video clip that the "industry" had no idea what to do with these guys. Trying to fit true originality into a pre-formed box looks ridiculous. Thanks SixtiesPopGold for this awesome posting. P.S. Annette had it going ON!!!!!
