To date I've been using an AR-10 to destroy hard drives, but this looks like it might be easier and perhaps cheaper in the long run. It costs about $3 per drive to destroy them the way I've been doing it. What do one of these units cost and what is the estimated power usage per cycle, if you don't mind my asking?

Please shed some light on the subject being crushed -- it's difficult to see what's going on.

I found a better tool. A hack Saw, Screw driver and hammer when I got done with my harddrive I had each platter cut into atleast 10 pieces

Not the safest way to go.
Also when you are dealing with Hundreds of drives it isn't practical.
As well Not very ecofriendly, After crushing a drive Vernon Tech recycles the drives.

I have a 100 ton press at home, That should do the trick...
Only problem is the beam on top isn't strong enough and if I'm not careful I'll bend it.

If the above is not proof of the device I don't know what is.
NZKartsport has a 100 ton press and is still unsure.
