Brava -- such emotional singing, gorgeous color and ringing high notes. Her technique is fine -- of course she could learn more; that is true of all singers. We spend our lives seeking to perfect our technique. Her emotional immediacy cannot be taught, however. It reaches right across the footlights, which is why the audience loves her. Get over it, haters. Don't waste your energy dissing this or that singer. There is room for us all.

it has a power - kind of 'voicey' aria, and she has a voice (i'd rather drink that potion than listen to it, regarding that Alagna is in it as well); some range in that voice would be nice; her modulation, sense of a musical line.. is to be desired .. basically, her phrasing is off

I think she could do quite respectable Puccini heroines if she would do Kabaivanska's master class - in my (unlearned) opinion that's the best she can achieve -not that it would be a small achievement for anybody

Everything you say is right on! I was in the audience that day. This was her shining moment - and there were many others. The audience reaction at the end of this aria was - well, thunderous.

All you guys here who talking about her technique and style are just operatic snobs who think that he\she would be imortant and self-satisfied.Her technique and style are excelent and she needs no of any your help to improve it.She is indifferent to all negative comments she stated that it her interviews frequently. Without any pathetic she is the greatest soprano of nowadays and we should be proud to be her contemporaries. We all still have a chance to see her live performance.

I agree! But I think she had the wrong coaches. If she would have studied with (for example) Lotte Lehmann (R.I.P.), she never would sing with that technique. 2007 she had massive problems with her vocal chords, just overwork. So her technique and diction are not even the best. But she has a very beauty remarkable voice and if she studies with the right teachers, she will be one of the best in the future.

you know little of her as a person then. whenever she can get to any company she's performing with, she does and works with a coach as much as possible. for this role, she came a month early and coached at least 3-4 times a week to get it right. she admits to not be perfect AT ALL and to be a work in progress, but she works her ass off to get better and better everyday. and SHE even says her technique is a mess, so again, you know little of her.
