The quality is poor sorry, gotta find a better one

Athens, 1999, June 16th
Maurice Greene lowers the world record by 0.05 seconds!! running in 9.79 (+0.1 wind) and beating Donovan Bailey's former record of 9.84 set in Atlanta games.
This record would stay for 3 years until Montgomery's 9.78, but Montgomery's record has been retroactively disqualified. So we have to wait 2005 and Asafa Powell to run in 9.77 in Athens.

  • juiced, was implicated in the balco drug scandal

  • @phastman1994 Im not racist but also, amazing for being a white sprinter. We all know black people have better genetics for speed and endurance. Once again, Im not racist, Im just ponting a fact.

  • @luigibattista10 yeah he was sick, his 19.72 stood for a good 17 years!

  • @phastman1994 Another good sprinter was Pietro Menea from Italy, 200m 19.72 in 1979. Mexico city. Greetings.

  • @jrussell04 Yeah exactly, and Johnson may have never gotten the title "Worlds Fastest Man" cause in order to have that title you normally have to be the 100m WR holder, but I still do consider him to be one of the greatest if not the greatest sprinter of all time!

  • @phastman199, Yes I agree with that Johnson was the superior 200m runner. If they ran the 200m 10 times, Johnson would win 8 or 9 out of 10.

  • @jrussell04 I actually meant Greene couldn't take Johnson as in consistently beat him over 200m, Johnson was clearly much better in 200m than Greene.

  • @phastman1994 Actually Greene did beat Johnson over 200m. They ran in the 200m in either 1999 Prefontaine Classic and Greene crushed Johnson. I believe Greene ran a wind-aided 19.84, Johnson ran over 20 second

  • @420MaxMad Greene couldn't take Johnson in 200m. Greene's 200m PB was 19.86, Johnson's was 19.32, theres no comparison. And Johnson's records haven't all been beaten, he still holds 3 WR's 300m - 30.85, 400m - 43.18, and 4x400m - 2:54.29.

  • @phastman1994 Green could take johnson in the 200m but not the 400m. The only time they actually raced the 200m was at the trails. Micheal Johnson was a great athlete and sprinter but all of his records have been smashed now and Green to this day still hold the indoor record for the 60m. Il give you that Johnson would win the 400m but the 200m-100m go to Green IMO
