Last November our Poet-Athletes took the stage sharing their favorite poems with peers, parents, and community members at America SCORES Cleveland's 2009 Poetry Slam. Judges had a hard time picking one boy and one girl poet-athlete from the 16 brave enough to perform solo. They did. Amairani and Gonzalo, both 11 and from Walton Elementary on Cleveland's near west side, were chosen from the bunch for their creative poems.
On April 19, 2010, these two poet-athletes will travel to the Big Apple to perform their original works on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange at the National Poetry Slam! They will join 24 other Poet-Athletes from across the country in the experience of a lifetime. Witness the power of poetry.
Good Luck, Amairani & Gonzalo.
