Cessna 172 Power On Spin

Fully developed spin in the Cessna 172S equipped with G1000 flight displays. Flight was completed within all limitations of the aircraft. Rear seats were removed for weight and balance purposes. I was the CFI giving training to one of our students. We had briefed the PARE recovery technique. During the video you can hear me say some of the steps. The spin is a Power-On entry with power reduced later in the spin as it enters the Fully Developed phase around the 3rd turn. Total turns are 7 and 1/4. My student also had his camera running, enjoy!

Note for pilots: Do not try a fully developed spin in the C172 without proper instruction and experience. The newest models do not easily enter or exit this spin mode like they do with the incipient phase. In most cases, wieght and balance with the G1000 system does not place the aircraft in the proper category to safely attempt spins.

Pickup an attenuating cable for your audio. It will fix the over gain issue. Nice flying. Looks like the student really enjoyed it. I can't believe how quickly the 172 spun. My spin training was in a Decathlon 8 years ago and I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

I prefer giving spin training in our Super D, but we've got two Cessna 172s set aside for spins as well. It's my favorite lesson to teach.
