obviously. lately, as some of you may know, some articles have been posted stating percy jackson is the same as harry potter, or that they're too much alike, and sometimes even claiming that the new movie is going to take HP's Throne.

PERCY JACKSON to me is just as good as HARRY POTTER i mean like there are not the same deffinetly cuz i mean persy is about demi gods and how hard it is being one and harry potter is about wizards and anything magical but im more of a mythlogical person but i do like fantasy book wise i liked percy jackson better there was more humr and harry potter was for me really dramatic but movie wise both movies rocked i loved them both so those of u that r crying ripe off u should really watch it

The first edit of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Lightning thief was sent to a publisher by Rick Riordan, in 1997. Meaning it was sent to a publisher the same year that Harry Potter first came out. It is not a copy of Harry Potter, it's more like a parallel version of it, one that evolved into a similar novel independently.

Both series are original.

I enjoy Percy Jackson, but from a literary standpoint Harry Potter wins. The characters are more realistic. The world created by J.K. Rowling more original. The Harry Potter books/movies touch on racism, prejudice, slavery, revenge, love, and sacrfice. Percy Jackson only touches on one of the points which is death. The Percy Jackson books follow the same formula of a quest each time. Each Potter book/movie has a diferent formula.

Percy would kick Harry's butt. I like Percy better because he's sarcastic and funny and brave, but has faults. Harry just seems a little too nice and polite and stuff that most teenage boys wouldn't be. Just a little to goody two shoes to be realistic for me.

@mm031997 in what way? Sure LOTR has magic but the storypoints, characters, setting, and focus arecompletely different. Besides a good writer pulls things from different literary sources such as Harry Potter with different fantasy novels and Percy Jackson with greek mythology. The same could be said of percy. PJ is a ripoff of greek stuff. What you're saying could be applied to both series.

@LetsStopThisSong I like Percy Jackson more. Don't get me wrong, now,I like both series,love them,in fact.I used to be a Harry Potter fanatic.Extremist,I would say.Now I've turned the books (literally).But I love both series.Just think Percy is better.The reason for that is mainly that my brain translates the words Greek mythology into "the best thing that ever existed".So I the reason why I like Percy more then Harry is simple;there's a completely diff aspect to both series,Percy suits me best.

Ok, facts, facts, facts. Harry Potter: About magic and love. Percy Jackson: Purely Greek and Roman mythology. Harry Potter doesn't have a single slightest mention of Greek Mythology. I like both series.
