Raggedtooth sharks used to steal many a fish from my spear - fewer now as I am better able to keep them off. In this dive a 'raggy' shark approaches and I swim closer to get on in it forward flank - then I prod it firmly with the speartip BEHIND the eye. Never in the eye! It turns away and will behave for a short while. I have done such fendoffs up to five times on one down - it works for me. Do not do this to a shark with nowhere to go(i.e. against a wall) or it may come snapping at you - also if your divebuddy is otherside the shark rather refrain from the jab lest he get a nip!
