This video was made ahead of the Gadhi Mai Mela.
It includes pictures taken by Animal Nepal. Palden Dorje left his speech, (translation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG54_bRp2CY ) but was unable to access the Mela, because police warned his devotees that their presence and Palden Dorje's presence would start a riot with the Gadhi Mai devotees.
We can make a difference next time, and with this in view, those of you who can, please refer to this link:

  • OM MANI PADME HUM Animal sacrifice is totally uncivilised deed , not a religious act at all! World wide petition must support complete prohibition of animal sacrifice in all traditions . True religion saves lives of beings ! This petition must be brought to United nations which must prohibit animal sacrifice in all countries, including Muslim world. It is very sad day for Nepal when 500.000 animals are killed every year.

  • Oh poor people they dont know what they are doing. Thouse priests who ordered this massacre are themselves rooted in delusion and confusion and yet they lead others who are already blind to act in such a shameful way. Although they have eyes they cannot see. Although they have hearts they cannot feel. There is no compassion in them. This act of primitive violence will only lead them to accumulate even more bad karma ... and more confusion and cruelty is the only fruits of this.

  • @28janya22 This is why the the skillful means start with the meditation of the Guru....Then obtaining precepts the Guru concentrates and spreads this information throughout the earth much as a satellite delivers information to us... and when a person realizes that they are suffering, and that they are unable to help themselves in their present state of mind, they seek a higher consciousness. In this dedication to improvement becomes able to heed with the heart the guidance of the Guru/s.

  • @KhenpoDarma

ok. so then, what can someone living at the other end of the Earth do at an individual level to bring awareness to the people who come to Nepal for sacrifice? Who will tell them? Only the people of Nepal can do that, I think.

  • @KhenpoDarma

So true. And the creator is also outside us, as we can see the work in the galaxies, the stars the outside environment.

  • @28janya22 Yes. It is about kshamata and avashyakta...according to capacity and need...and what occurs and is taught and is learned is "process." What is gained is the end of suffering. Those who pass achieve "vilaya" (nonduality) and those who fail "vinasha." (are turned to ash.) May all beings be freed from the causes of suffering.

    Namaste.

  • @KhenpoDarma

OK. These groups should be educated, is what you are saying. Show them the error of their ways. Its a matter of conscience and awareness. Some people have it inborn, others do not. The recognition of suffering to another caused by oneself, is directly related to conscience. Some people just do not have one, or have one that is undeveloped, so you are right, the suffering must become clearly evident. Namaaste.

  • If man must eat flesh, at the least, let it be done lovingly. Pray for every animal that is being killed, not for some diety or the other but simply to appease human hunger. Talk to the being about to be killed, bless it, ask it for its life, for its sacrifice, then lovingly kill it and lovingly use every part of its body - in other words, honor the animal, who gives its body to satisfy man's hunger.

  • @28janya22 There are many other professed Hindus who are vegetarian and make vegetarian offerings. Again:

This is not about a particular group or a comparison of religions, it must not be that. It must be an entreaty to the practitioners of animal sacrifice to question their cause for such action. It is about a plea to end the suffering of sentient beings. Namaste.

  • Yes. The conscousness of Humanity should be raised so that they stop living in fear. Of-course people eat flesh, and have been doing to the remote past, but it is the "way" in which this is being done.

We can only hope and pray that in the coming future, animals will not be torchered and abused. and buthered so heartlessly. You know they have nervous systems, a brain, spinal cord etc. and feel anxiety, pain, fear, just like humans do.

  • @KhenpoDarma

I understand your concern, but I have read that this is a Vedic ritual. Is Vedic different than Hindu? Does it not seem that they are doing this in a way to literally fertilize the earth? Blood and its constituents as "fertilizer", for prosperity, better harvest etc.? And after all, everyone showing up there, with a goat or bird in hand are professed Hindus aren' t they?
